Take a walk along Creswick Creek in Clunes and discover this old foundry site tucked away among the trees.
Situated across the foot bridge from the Port Phillip Mine site and information display, this foundry is an interesting place to stop by while exploring the many significant historical features throughout Clunes.

The site is accessible by car (via W Parade) or by foot from the Port Phillip Mine site on Scenic Drive. A wooden picnic table is set along the creek close to the foundry site.
The Welcome Stranger is the largest alluvial gold nugget discovered in the world (so far), unearthed at Moliagul in 1869. Today you can take an interesting Discovery Walk around the area where the Welcome Stranger was found. The site features a picnic area, information signs and a monument commemorating the incredible find.More Tips
