The striking Maldon Railway Station is a brilliant place to visit while exploring Maldon - and not just for the beautiful architecture and locomotives on display. The Maldon Railway Station is also home to Victorian Goldfields Railway, an authentic experience where you can take a trip on a gorgeous heritage train.

The railway station was constructed in 1888 for the Victorian Railways. The Castlemaine-Maldon Line was closed in 1976 and was later partially reopened as a tourist attraction.

Artwork at the Maldon Railway Station

An interesting artwork is displayed at the railway station along with a plaque displaying the following text:

"THE WOOL TRAIN"

This work by local artist Stuart Spragg has been constructed using all recycled materials. From an old tiltadoor, corragated iron, flat iron, and reclaimed timber. We try to bring to life the stories and the history of times past. Stu-Art Sculptures is based in Muckleford Victoria. We can create just about anything and love to work with clients who want something different.
