If you're looking for a quiet spot to have picnic or barbecue while the kids safely run around and explore, Craigie Park Reserve is a fantastic place to visit.

Set well back from Majorca Road on Craigie Park Road, just a few minutes drive from Maryborough, Craigie Park Reserve is a large fenced area with a picnic table, bench seat and double wood fire barbecue.

A large grassy field (what remains of an oval) is bordered by trees, fallen logs, and a small dam at the far end.

The multiple fallen logs are great for kids to climb on, and the various clusters of trees offer many interesting places for children to explore. A large, impressive pine tree stands along the left side of the park.

Pack a picnic or barbecue lunch and bring a football out for the kids to kick around, this is a peaceful, pretty spot to spend the afternoon.

Be aware of snakes during the summer.

  • There are hundreds of fantastic barbecue areas throughout the Victorian Goldfields. Some are in parks/playgrounds, others are scattered throughout the bush. Many barbecue areas are located alongside amazing attractions and walks, so go out for a barbecue and get exploring!
