Lake Esmond is one of Ballarat's best spots for fishing, walking and picnics. 

Once a quarry for the Eureka Tile Works, Lake Esmond has been developed into a beautiful haven for recreation and relaxation, with excellent visitor facilities set alongside the scenic lake. 

Picnics and barbecues at Lake Esmond


Pack a picnic or barbecue lunch and head to Lake Esmond for a relaxing day out in this scenic spot by the water! 

A picnic area provides an undercover table and gas barbecue, set right alongside a fantastic playground. 

A drinking fountain, rubbish bins and toilets are also located in this area.

This excellent playspace is set right alongside the picnic area with views over the scenic Lake Esmond. 

The playground features lots of interesting play equipment including a large double-lane flying fox!

This is a great place to bring the family for a picnic and play before walking a circuit of the lake or settling in for an afternoon of fishing. 

Walking and fishing at Lake Esmond


Take a scenic circuit walk around the beautiful Lake Esmond, where multiple walking tracks travel around the small lake with bench seating provided along the way. 

You'll also find plenty of great spots to set up for a day of fishing, including a fenced wooden platform set over the water.
