The Mount Cole School operated here from 1879 to 1934, and the site (now a lightly treed paddock with a dam) can be viewed from the road side.
The sign stands outside the fence and displays the following text:
MT. COLE SCHOOL SITE
No 834 1879 - 1934
Mount Cole Road continues past Chinamans Campground and through the beautiful Mount Cole State Forest, where you will find multiple free campgrounds and plenty to see and do.
