This memorial is set in the bush alongside the Pyrenees Highway in Bung Bong and is a heartbreaking dedication to local a boy, Terry Floyd, who went missing in 1975. Terry was last seen here near Bung Bong Hill next to a suspicious vehicle that has since been identified. That was nearly 50 years ago, and it was the last time anyone ever saw Terry.
Terry's brother, Daryl has not given up in the search for what happened. He has been meticulously searching a disused gold mine at Bung Bong Hill, just meters from where Terry was last seen. Evidence suggests that this mine could be Terry's final resting place. Almost every weekend, weather permitting, dozens of volunteers join Daryl in the search. Sifting through the hundreds of tonnes of rubbish removed from the mine, they've found glimmers of hope - personal items similar to those Terry had with him when he disappeared.
There is currently a $1 million reward for information that could lead to a conviction and bring justice to those responsible for Terry's disappearance. Along with this reward, there's an indemnity from prosecution for anyone who knows what happened but was not directly involved.
Despite receiving some funding from the Victorian Government, this heartbreaking search has taken a significant financial and emotional toll on Daryl. He is determined to finish the search, but needs help to continue. Any financial support will help Daryl find Terry and finally solve the mystery of what happened to him.
