Features

The Metcalfe Recreation Reserve is located in the peaceful town of Metcalfe, and features a playground, tennis courts, wood fire barbecue, picnic tables and toilets. 

This is a great place to come for a picnic lunch while visiting Metcalfe to explore The Cascades - an extraordinary hidden gem.

The playground at the Metcalfe Recreation Reserve has many great features, including a wave slide, chain climbing frame, fort, running wheel, springers, swings and more. 

Bench seating is set around the playground. 

Picnics at the Metcalfe Recreation Reserve


This basic picnic area is set in a quiet location and is close to the children's playground. 

A wood fireplace with barbecue plate stands alongside multiple picnic tables. 

The Cascades


The Cascades are a marvellous hidden gem located not far from the Metcalfe Recreation Reserve. 

A series of cascades sweep over layers of bedrock as the water whirls down through rockpools, crevices and little caverns. 

Relax in a rockpool, take a dip in one of the larger swimming holes, or make your way across the stunning bedrock and boulders to wander along and appreciate the scenic beauty of the Coliban River.
