This hidden treasure, tucked away alongside a scenic creek in Clunes, features two picnic tables set beneath a gorgeous cluster of vine-covered trees, and is surrounded by beautiful log steps. A steep hillside rises beside the picnic area and is covered in leafy foliage, fallen logs, stones and vines. This shady, peaceful spot has an enchanted atmosphere, and is a wonderful spot for a picnic lunch and for children to explore.

This pretty picnic area is located right at the beginning of the short but scenic Creek Walk, which meanders along beside Creswick Creek through the lower portion of Esmond Park.

The Creek Walk takes you to the Port Phillip Mine on Scenic Drive, past Historic Steps, as well as across the bridge to the Old Foundry Site.

A large gravel parking area is located alongside the Creek Walk entrance within the Ligar Street Reserve.

Toilets and rubbish bins are located nearby within the Ligar Street Reserve. There are no rubbish bins at the picnic area, so please ensure you take your rubbish to the nearby bins on your way out.

  • Kids love to climb! There are plenty of places throughout the Goldfields with great trees, rocks, fallen logs and more for kids to climb up, around and over.
