Features

A great spot for fishing, this peaceful bushland campground stretches along the bank of the Campaspe River in Avonmore, half an hour from Bendigo.

A dirt road travels through the reserve from Elmore-Barnadown Road over to Avonmore Bridge Road, following the river bank and providing plenty of clear spaces for camping. There is plenty of room to set up camp along the river as well as further back in the reserve.

The bank is steep at this section of the Campaspe River but it is fairly easy to get down to the water, find a flat spot to set up chairs, and settle in for a day of fishing.

Free camping at the Avonmore Streamside Reserve

Free camping is permitted at the Avonmore Streamside Reserve. A large, lightly treed expanse stretches alongside the Campaspe River, providing lots of space for tents, caravans and RVs to set up camp.

Please note that there are no visitor facilities here so campers must be self-sufficient.

2wd and caravan/RV access is fine in dry conditions.

THE CAMPASPE RIVER

The gorgeous Campaspe River runs from the Great Dividing Range in the south to the Murray River in the north, travelling for approximately 150 kilometres. There are many fantastic spots along the Campaspe River for visitors to enjoy, including here at the Avonmore Streamside Reserve!
