Six beautiful waterfalls near Daylesford

Posted 08/10/2022 in Places

The Daylesford region is famous as a mineral spa destination, but it really should be just as famous for it's gorgeous selection of waterfalls!

There are six stunning falls to explore within around half an hour from town, so be sure to add chasing waterfalls to your list of things to do on your next visit.

The Blowhole, Hepburn

Known as The Blowhole, this diversion tunnel was built by miners in the 19th century to divert water from a section of Sailors Creek. This diversion cut off a loop where the remaining dry creek bed was then extensively worked for gold.

The gold diversion tunnel has created a pretty little man-made waterfall with a scenic swimming hole beneath it!

When the creek is flowing from winter to early summer, water rushes through the tunnel and falls into a small pool below before continuing down the scenic Sailors Creek.

Loddon Falls, Glenlyon

The gorgeous Loddon Falls drops dramatically over a wall of huge hexagonal basalt columns into a swimming hole below, before continuing on through the spectacular rocky gorge.

This stunning hidden gem is hidden away in Glenlyon and offers beautiful views along with a scenic walk.

Sailors Falls, Sailors Falls

Sailors Falls is a stunning waterfall near Daylesford which drops into a lush, fern-lined gully, where Sailors Creek meanders through a series of gorgeous rock pools before continuing on through the Hepburn Regional Park.

Located just a few minutes from Daylesford, Sailors Falls also features mineral spring taps, undercover picnic tables, and excellent information displays.

Trentham Falls, Trentham

Trentham Falls is a stunning waterfall on the Coliban River, plunging 32 metres down over magnificent basalt columns before continuing on through the gorge below.

A viewing area overlooks the waterfall and gorge, accessed by a quick 70 metre walk from the car park.

Turpins Falls, Langley

Turpins Falls rush down over a huge semi-circular wall of rock into a large pool of water below. This is an impressive, peaceful location where you can swim beneath a waterfall!
