Head up to Kingower's Bald Hills and take in the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, fields and bushland. Located within the Kingower State Forest, this is a great vantage point to spot the resident wedge-tailed eagles who live and hunt in the bushland below.
Best accessed by 4wd, the rough and rocky Bald Hills Road makes it way up the hillside towards the top. You'll come to a turnoff track which takes you up further and across the sparsely treed Bald Hills, offering panoramic views of the area. From here you'll get views of
Mount Korong, Mount Kooyoora,
Mount Bealiba,
Mount Alexander, and
Mount Moliagul.
This is also a great spot for a short bushwalk, just park your car beside the track and take a scenic walk along the summit, using the road as a walking track.
The Kingower State Forest is a popular destination for gold prospectors, and contains three free campgrounds. This spot is also located close to the stunning Melville Caves
lookout,
campground and
picnic area, as well as the
discovery site of the world-famous Hand of Faith gold nugget.
