Roadside Soldiers Memorial
Stone monument
This stone monument stands alongside the Wedderburn-Dunolly Road, erected in 1968 by Mr R. S. King in honour of those who had served in the first and second World Wars.
The monument is situated in the Rheola School Soldiers Memorial Plantation, which lies along the roadside opposite the site of the old Rheola School.
The plaque displays the following text:
ERECTED IN HONOUR OF THOSE WHO SERVED IN 1914-18 AND 1939-45 WARS
There are hundreds of old mine shafts scattered throughout the bushland of the Goldfields. Some have been covered with steel grates for safety, but many are still open. When venturing off the track into the bush, always be wary of these dangerous mine shafts.More Tips
